The Washington Quarter Dollar has become the coin of choice for many collectors who have joined the hobby over the last 20 years or so.

The popularity of the 50 State Quarter program is credited with reeling them in. One of the first lessons a budding Washington Quarter numismatist picks up on is that the kingpin key dates are the 1932-D and the 1932-S. Without this pair, no quarter collection is complete or taken seriously by other numismatists. Of all the Washington Quarter Dollars, these are the only dates to demonstrate consistent value growth over a long period of time.

Why? Because when their relatively limited supply (both have mintages under 500,000) is matched up with the number collectors seeking a full Washington Quarter set, demand exceeds supply, driving prices higher. This scenario will remain in effect for as long as there are avid Washington Quarter collectors

Crooked coin sellers take advantage of collector zeal for the 1932-D and 1932-S by offering over graded or altered coins. Never consider buying from someone whose reputation you can't verify. Obtaining examples certified by PCGS, NGC, ICG, or ANACS, affords an additional level of security to the buyer.

The Washington Quarter Dollar was supposed to be made for only one year, but here we are, more than 80 years later, and it is still with us. We promote the idea that buyers become more knowledgeable of the coins they own, and for that reason, we have a chapter detailing the origin of the Washington Quarter, along with photos and other interesting tidbits.
