The State Quarter program commenced in January 1999 and will continue through
2008. Below is the business-strike State Quarter release dates, listed
state-by-state with the oldest issues starting at top. The issuance sequence is
set according to the order in which the states ratified the Constitution or were
admitted to the Union.
In 2010, a new quarter program launches. The Mint will issue coins
featuring national parks and other national sites. Approximately every 10 weeks,
a new design emblematic of a national site is to be depicted on the reverse of
the quarter. The sites chosen for depiction will come from each of 50 states,
plus the District of Columbia and all five U.S. territories. In all, 56 reverses are
to be featured. As with the State Quarters, the familiar image of George
Washington remains on the front.
If you're interested in keeping track of the release dates of the new quarters
in 2009 and beyond, watch the Mint's
"Product Availability" page, and click the "Upcoming Products" link. This is
where you can preview U.S. Mint products soon to be available and take note of
their announced release dates. Speaking of the Mint... now there's a place
bustling with activity these days, perhaps more so at present than at any other
time since 1792,
the first year the Mint opened its doors to serve the people of
the United States.
