Rare Coin Investing
|
Rare coin investing
is not for everybody. In fact, if you're not sure how to approach coin
investing, your best bet is to stick to buying the coins that appeal to your
collecting preference, and forget about trying to turn a profit. On the
other hand, with a little bit of research and knowledge, the same money you
spend on the coin hobby can be directed to make you successful in the arena of
rare coin investing.
There are a number of scholarly numismatists who
have studied rare coin investing for many years, and have written books to
record their observations and opinions. The common thread binding these
publications together is this: the best percentage returns seen by investing in
rare coins are realized when the buyer purchases properly graded coins that have
enjoyed a consistent demand from the collector class for many years. The
value of the books for sale is the advice offered to identify, find, purchase,
and sell coins that are most likely to make rare coin investing a profitable
venture.
We have a summary of how to
identify rare coins with bullish futures.
Certainly, this one-page article does not probe the depths of coin investing as
do the fine references listed below, but we recommend it as a good foundation to
begin your understanding of investing in rare coins.
Occasionally, new books comes
out dedicated to the science (or is it an art?) of rare coin investing.
When this happens, we'll do a quick evaluation of the author's previous works and
publisher standards to determine if it should added below. If time allows,
a more complete opinion will be posted the
Coin Book Review section. You
can keep informed automatically of all the latest numismatic literary
developments by subscribing to
