There are hundreds of sites for collecting coins on the Web.  We've reviewed many of them, and listed here the ones that are, in our opinion, the most worthy.  If visitors to US Coin Values Advisor cannot find what they need here, perhaps one of the pre-qualified sites below can help.  Note: Link reciprocity bore no influence in the compilation of this list.

 




Coin Directories

Coin Directories categorize and summarize coin-related websites, complete with links.  There are quite a few of them, but most of them are so spammy, we wouldn't want to send you there.  We did, however, find a number of exceptional coin directories that are useful tools for helping the budding hobbyist advance in the art of collecting coins.

CoinLink

CoinLink is one of the finest coin directories in existence, in fact one of the top coin websites, period!  With a superb Google Page Rank of 6, only the US Mint at PR7 ranks higher in the numismatic realm.  Comprehensive in scope, CoinLink provides unbiased access to thousands of informative and relevant resources.

COINSHEET Numismatic Directory

Webmaster Bob Johnson is "Mr. Johnny on the Spot".  Bob is quick to review sites submitted for inclusion in the COINSHEET Directory, culls dead links and keeps his listings current.  That fact alone shoots COINSHEET near the top of the heap.

Coin Discussion Forums

Coin discussion forums bring collectors together to share knowledge and experience.  The forums listed below are the best we've found on the Net.  Drop in and browse for a while at any of these sites, and you'll be amazed at the level of expertise on display.  Its not all about coins all the time, though, as lively topics sometimes humorously swerve into areas beyond the realm of numismatics.

One of the newest numismatic sites and certainly one of the best.  Coin Community features quality forums, news, education and information.  Their method of tracking eBay coin auctions is unique and intriguing.  Coin Community is destined to be a safe haven for collectors.  Worthy of a bookmark!

This is the newest coin discussion forum, started in May 2006, by the creator of CoinResource, one of the finest information sites available.  With experienced veterans at the helm, Coin Forum is certain to attract its share of great numismatic thinkers.

This is a very fast-paced environment.  Many times, more than 200 registered users are participating, most of them in the U.S. Coin Forum.  Suited for the collector who prefers quenching thirst by drinking out of a fire hose.

This forum has been around for a while.  Members of this Coin Talk  can hold their own against the brightest anyone else has to offer.  If you're looking to belong to a quality forum, this one is worth a look-see.

Coin-Gallery Online

Founded in 1996, Coin-Gallery Online is one of the oldest Internet websites.  Collectors at all levels will appreciate the professional look and feel, along with some of the finest, most satisfying, and current information relevant to the topic of coin collecting.

Coin-Collecting for Beginners

This site specializes in collecting coins for beginners.  Coin Collecting for Beginners offers advice on how to get started, how to pursue this hobby even on a low budget, and some suggestions for those who already have some experience in the hobby but want to renew or expand their interest.

CoinResource

This site has a bit of everything.  Clean, crisp, and fresh-looking, CoinResource is a combination of news, information, history, opinion, and quality links.  No wonder they call it CoinResource!  Even though they're not coin dealers per se, CoinResource is interested in buying certain coins.  Check program details.

CoinFacts

Coin expert extraordinaire Ron Guth is one of the most accomplished numismatic writers in the universe.  His "Coin Collecting for Dummies" is an endearing classic.   His CoinFacts site is astounding for its depth of detail, including estimated rarity and superb notations, all at the individual coin level.  Gloriously illustrated.

Coin Today

Austere and colorless, Coin Today is most useful to the coin collector for its timely headlines.  Moving beyond the top billing, there are links to somewhere for virtually all aspects of collecting coins.  Coin Today ain't glitzy or pretty, but it does get the job done.

CoinSite

Tracing its roots back to 1996, CoinSite delves into many aspects of collecting coins.  Visitors to this jewel of a website will find many things, including the Coin Doc clinic, image gallery, tons of information, buyer/seller matchmaking, friendly discussion, and entertainment.  Lively and animated, CoinSite ranks near the top.

Silver-Dollar-Finder

Silver-Dollar-Finder

This is a handy site for Morgan and Peace silver dollar numismatists, containing information on these their histories, grading, and how values have fluctuated with time.  If you're shopping around for the best deal, Silver-Dollar-Finder features a tool to quickly help you search for coins on eBay and other auction systems.

US Coin Guides

There are a handful of US Coin Guide websites that estimate the current value of US coins.  Some of them are so good that we frequently sneak a peek every now and then as a "sanity check" to confirm that our computer algorithms are churning out reliable data for the Coin Value Tables row for the year 2007.  Here are a couple of US Coin Guides that we believe are some of the most thorough, accurate and well maintained.  Also, they're mostly FREE to use!

Numismedia

Numismedia provides free coin value market data, from the lowest grades all the way to MS-60, across the full US coin collecting spectrum.  Paid subscribers can access fair market prices in the MS-61 to MS-70 range.  Auctions, web coin directory, and classifieds are but a few of the additional offerings sponsored by Numismedia.

PCGS

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) was a pioneer in 3rd party grading services, beginning operations in the mid-1980s.  PCGS uses their website to add to their coin grading business, and in order to attract new clients, they offer a free humdinger of a coin value guide, and more.  Truly a fascinating, classy numismatic haven.

For the Serious Numismatist

Have you ever wondered why so many people enthusiastically collect coins, or why is this a lifelong hobby for millions?  If you really want to discover what the magical draw is, then join a numismatic organization and attend coin shows.  Read, explore, observe, absorb, learn, and enjoy!  We've listed here a couple of the oldest and largest numismatic associations in the United States.  They're economical to join, and those who seize upon membership benefits receive much in return.  Don't forget coin shows, either!

American Numismatic Association

The American Numismatic Association (ANA) was founded in 1891.  Their home base is located in Colorado Springs, CO.  Boasting over 30,000 members, it is one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world.  Their extensive library is something we have tapped into many times in the creation of this website.

American Numismatic Society

The American Numismatic Society (ANS) has been around since 1856, centered in New York City.  The ANS mission, in their own words, "is to be the preeminent national institution advancing the study and appreciation of coins, medals and related objects of all cultures as historical and artistic documents..."

CoinShows.com

Unless you live in some remote region, like, say, the South Pole, there is bound to be a coin show coming near you soon.  The goal of CoinShows.com is clear and simple: inform the coin collecting public of upcoming coin shows in all 50 states, and to a lesser degree, internationally.  Up to date, CoinShows.com delivers the goods.
