Coin Collecting for Kids

This selection of books is called "Coin Collecting for Kids", though it touches upon much more than just filling slots in coin collecting starter kits.  Indeed, one of the most rewarding things about numismatics is teaching young people various aspects about the hobby.

Conversations can range from the evolution of money throughout the ages, up to modern day methods of coin making.  History is an important topic when talking about coins, and thus kid coin collecting provides a platform for you to educate your child about America's past and instill national pride.

Most important of all, being involved together in the hobby can bring parents and children closer together, and strengthen generational bonds.  Who knows, perhaps one of your child's favorite memories years from now will be of your shared excursions to the local coin show.  If introducing your kid to the virtues of coin collecting does nothing more than open up the lines of communication, then you've accomplished something many other parents are still desperately in search of.

The books listed below are some of the best-selling children's books about money (not just coin collecting).  However, some of them would be appropriate for an anyone who is just getting started with collecting.

When a new "Coin Collecting for Kids" book comes out, we'll do a quick evaluation based on the author's previous works and publisher standards to determine if it should added below.  If time allows, a more complete opinion will be posted the Coin Book Review section.  You can keep informed automatically of all the latest numismatic literary developments by subscribing to the US Coin Values Advisor RSS feed.  What's an RSS feed?
