There are many seeking to build a collection of Washington Quarters. The popularity of this series has intensified over the last decade, thanks in part to the success of the 50 State Quarter program.

To be truthful, the value of most silver Washington Quarters in lower grades are dictated largely by the precious metals market. The only genuine key dates in the series are the 1932-D and the 1932-S. With mintages of under 500,000, demand for these coins has always exceeded supply, forcing prices ever higher on a consistent basis since their issuance. Their ranking as the most important Washington Quarters to collectors will likely not change anytime soon.

Most people do not realize the Washington head quarter was meant to be a special one year coin when issued in 1932, to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Father of the American nation. A buyer of coins morphs into a numismatist by gaining a deeper understanding of the underlying stories connected with their holdings. Some buyers view coins from an investment angle, but its no coincidence that enthusiastic numismatists do better at choosing coins with the best potential for future price increases.
