The values of nearly all low grade pre-1965 Washington Quarters are heavily influenced by the going price of silver bullion. The most notable exceptions to this rule are the 1932-D and the 1932-S. Both coins have relatively tiny mintages, and are eagerly pursued by droves of collectors.

The combination of low supply and high demand makes these Washington Quarters safe bets for buyers seeking future appreciation.

When Washington Quarters were first coined in 1932, in observance of the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington, the plan was that it would be a single year issue only. Instead, it has survived into the 21st century. We encourage coin buyers to get familiar with the histories of the coins they own. Please take a few minutes to learn about the origin of the Washington Quarter. Coin collecting should be considered a hobby first and investment second.
