The Gobrecht Silver Dollar was first struck in
1836, as the US Mint geared up to once again produce silver dollars,
after an absence of 33 years.
Gobrecht Silver Dollars are dated 1836, 1838, and 1839. Although viewed
primarily as pattern pieces, a total of 1900 were released into
circulation.
Today’s coin collectors are fascinated by Gobrecht Dollars, and will
