The Draped Bust Silver Dollar adopted a large eagle reverse in 1798, replacing a smaller eagle that was roundly criticized for its perception of weakness.

The large eagle reverse was continued until 1803, although there are about 15 or so Draped Bust dollars dated 1804. The 1804 silver dollar was actually coined in the 1830’s, and is one of the most famous rare coins in the world, worth millions of dollars.
